Where are you?

Been working with the lovely Katz Kiely from BEEP (a most amazing enterprise transformation tool) and a bunch of change makers trying to make sense and make a difference in these crazy COVID times.

An absolute pleasure and delight and at some point I’ll make sense of it myself and share but I just wanted to pass on a simple hack that all of us can use in these Zoom (insert your preferred unhelpful video conferencing platform here) world.

We all spend so much time in front of the same screen, in the same space that probably wasn’t designed for it.

If you’re lucky, you’ll have an office chair and desk but many of us are making do with dining tables and dining chairs.

So why not do your call outside – on your daily exercise excursion or even in the garden? Why not encourage your team and your colleagues to do the same.

Get them to describe their physical surroundings and get them to show you their space.

And as the adage goes, if they show you theirs, you have to show them yours.

So you and your colleagues can all be a bit more human together first, before you “get down to business”.

Remember it’s the human-human stuff you’re going to have to rely on to deliver your objectives, to turn your strategy into reality. It’s the human-human stuff that’s going to get you and the business out of this. It’s the human-human stuff that will be your biggest challenge and greatest asset.

It’s not machines. It’s people.
