We’re all individuals
Was thinking about tattoos today as I wandered through Camden. Not an expert on the psychology of tattooing and bodymarking but my own encounters with those who do have themselves indelibly marked this way suggests that while they talk openly of how it gives a real sense of their individualism (and a dramatic one at that), they are curiously subject to the tattooing styles of those around them.
In other words, like the crowd in The Life of Brian who shout, “We’re all individuals”. IN UNISON
The beautiful ongoing photographic project (see above sample) by photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek called Exactitudes shows this perfectly. Different individuals, shot in different parts of the world, are curiously identical in their most extreme attempt to be see as an indvidual….
